No-Repeat Classroom Participation That Still Feels Human
Use a no-repeat cycle to widen participation while keeping room for absences, accessibility, and teacher judgment.

Save separate lists so names are not copied from scratch each lesson. Mark absent students inactive instead of deleting them.
Explain the cycle
Tell students that each active name appears once before reset. Predictability reduces the feeling that selection is arbitrary.
Keep an override
Random selection is a prompt, not a disciplinary rule. Use Keep in pool, Remove, or Undo when context calls for it.
Choose the reset rhythm
Reset each visit for short activities, daily for recurring participation, or manually for a longer unit.

Can I exclude a student temporarily?
Yes. Toggle the student inactive and restore them when they return.
Is random calling always appropriate?
No. Accommodations, language needs, and emotional safety should override the tool.
